5. Retention period

Your medical file will be kept for at least 30 years after the last contact, in accordance with Belgian legislation on patient files (Act of 22 August 2002 on patient rights).

Administrative and financial data are kept for the legally required period of 7 years.

6. Data Sharing

Your data will only be shared when this is necessary:

  • With other healthcare providers involved in your treatment (with your permission)
  • With AZ Jan Palfijn Ghent for hospital admissions and consultations
  • With health insurance for reimbursement
  • With processors who provide services on our behalf (e.g. IT maintenance), under strict contractual conditions

Your data will not be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
